How to increase customer awareness by making products more visible

Managing Director Paul Harlow explained: "We are a diverse business and we wanted to try and pull everything together so that a customer from one sector would be aware of our complete offering. In fact, enquiries increased from the day the site went live. Although this was our key driver we did have other objectives for a new site. We wanted to portray a professional on-line image by tailoring information to specific audiences and hoped that by having detailed product information on the website we would save money on printed materials. Judging by feedback the site is definitely a hit with our customers. We have also achieved the cost saving objective as we no longer need to produce a full product brochure as customers are happy to be directed to the website.

Harlow’s web URL directs visitors to a gateway site showing the company masthead displayed over five graphic panels that each link to a dedicated website. The gateway page also outlines Harlow’s breadth of expertise and contains contact information. Each sub-site contains full product descriptions for the timber merchant, timber systems, engineered timber, poultry housing and stabling divisions of the business.
