New brochure and price list set to improve sales figures

Kooltech is one of the UK’s largest independently owned distributors of refrigeration and air conditioning products. The company serves consultants, contractors and manufacturers, providing design expertise, core product stock holding and delivery where and when required. There was an urgent need for a comprehensive booklet that would meet the needs of the sales team and work as effective reference tool for customers. With no previous brochure to work from, this was a project starting from scratch.

A working partnership was established between the project manager from Kooltech and the Quiet Storm design and print team. The first task was to agree the size and general layout of the brochure. This was influenced to a great extent by Kooltech’s suppliers as most of the product specification information would be provided by them. The brochure had to be A5 size and printed in full colour with an index. Product details would be displayed in table form alongside photographs. The brief was for a company brochure, not just a price list, so pages were set aside for trading terms and conditions of sale and a company profile. This was also an opportunity to include maps and contact information for each Kooltech facility.

Maintaining clear lines of communication between the Quiet Storm studio and Kooltech’s office in the South of England was essential. As the booklet took shape, all the information had to be quickly checked and the overall design approved to meet the tight deadline. To facilitate this, Quiet Storm set up an FTP website. This enabled a fast exchange of information between both offices and was the ideal way for Kooltech to view and approve the pages as they were completed.

Another requirement of the brochure was that it be attractive yet hard wearing to stand up to frequent use. A spiral bound design was chosen with clear plastic protective covers.

As Brand Manager for Kooltech, Bob Farrington was responsible for the project. He said: “We had set a tight deadline to get this brochure out to our sales team and the great working relationship we had with Quiet Storm helped us achieve it. We had not produced a book like this before so getting the information together was a huge task. The sales team had been screaming out for a brochure for a long time and it has been very well received. The final result is a publication that consolidates our product information and raises the profile of our company. I would expect to see a positive impact on our sales figures at the end of the financial year.”
