Toasting marshmallows around a home-made campfire before breaking colleagues out of a top-security jail were the order of the day at Quiet Storm’s 2019 staff away day.
Every year, we like to get the whole team away from the office for a day of fun activities and team bonding, as well as bringing them up-to-date with how we are doing as a business and the direction we are heading in.
We recently took time out at Field Sport UK’s outdoor activity centre in Lount, Leicestershire, for a day of bush crafts, survival and a ‘jailbreak’.
We split into two teams, which competed against each other throughout the day in a number of tasks, including creating a forest basecamp complete with sleeping shelter and campfire, before taking part in a number of logic-based scenarios based around rescuing a fallen colleague from jail.
Our best year ever
Last year (2018/19) was Quiet Storm’s best year in a decade in terms of both turnover and profitability, as we acquired new customers and continued to deliver great value solutions to existing clients to help them achieve their business goals. The away day gave us the opportunity to share this success with our staff, give team leaders the opportunity to talk about some of the exciting new projects they have in the pipeline, and brief them on our plans for the future.
Over more than three decades in business, providing sales and marketing solutions to organisations of many sizes and sectors, we’ve seen a fair degree of change. However, the core principles of trading successfully remain the same.
Our new, redefined offering reflects the way our solutions simplify process, people and performance management to optimise sales and marketing, increase operational efficiencies, boost employee engagement and reduce administration costs. By helping businesses to create a collaborative ecosystem within their organisation, we can bring together sales, marketing, operations, training and finance. We then provide an integrated technology solution which optimises efficiencies and reduces hidden costs.
It’s all about helping clients to find that sweet spot between performance, people and process to help clients clarify process, responsibility and accountability so teams pull together, everyone knows what their objectives – both individually and collectively – are and business leaders have full, real-time visibility of the data that matters most to them. This, in turn, helps their teams to deliver continuous improvement and perform to a consistently high level.
Steve Megson, our Managing Director, said:
“Our away day was great fun and the team really entered into the spirit of things and threw themselves into the activities. It finished in a draw at the end of the day, which was a fair result. There was a more serious side to the day, however, and that was to bring the team up-to-date with where we are as a business and to unveil our exciting plans for the future.
“We’ve learned a lot in more than 30 years in business and with rapid advances in technology in recent years, we’ve been able to develop a business management tool which helps clients to maximise their people, processes and performance. Our solution harnesses the very latest technologies and provides clients of all sizes of measuring, managing and rewarding what matters the most to them.”
