Nature’s Feast Mobile friendly website successfully launches new product range
Westland Horticulture Ltd is one of the leading and fastest growing horticultural companies in the UK. They have several brands, one of which is Nature’s Feast. This brand specifically focused on wild bird food but was being expanded to incorporate small animal pet food for rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. A new website was needed to help support the sales team to explain this exciting new product range. Its primary goal was to provide trade customers and their clients with an informative, engaging online experience that focused on the benefits of the new products.
Here’s what Kirk Rothwell, Brand Manager for Westland Horticulture, had to say about it….
The new website needed to support sales
I was in a new role, with a new company and tasked with managing the development of a website to raise visibility of the expanded product range. The new site would be judged on how it helped the sales team achieve their targets, and so would I.
The current Nature’s Feast site was in WordPress
The incumbent website designers proposal was to redevelop the new Nature’s Feast site within the WordPress CMS. However, I was finding it cumbersome and frustrating using the WordPress content management system (CMS). I’d experienced Quiet Storms’ more ‘user friendly CMS’ in a previous marketing role at Donington Park.
The brief went out with a really tight timescale
Being in a new role and under pressure to deliver results within a tight timeframe is a challenge. The brief went out to our incumbent web company, as well as several others. I needed to be transparent in the selection process, so I developed a formula to score the responses. This involved others within the marketing team to ensure the final decision process was purely based upon merit.
More flexible, easier and better value
Having demonstrated the Quiet Storm CMS to my colleagues they agreed it was easier to use. Quiet Storm also provided a more competitive quote and greater flexibility in their solution to the brief. The really tight timescale was a concern, but as I’d experienced working on pressured projects before with Quiet Storm, I felt comfortable with switching suppliers.
After training the website went live on time and on budget
The communication throughout the development process was fantastic. Quiet Storm have a whole suite of online project management tools to ensure that I was always kept informed of progress. Everything ran smoothly and any changes were accommodated efficiently and without any fuss. The CMS training means I can quickly and easily manage the content. Search Engine Optimisation tools within the CMS, together with free workshops mean I can manage the online marketing myself if I have time, or delegate it.
The feedback is that it’s a fantastic sales tool
The site was launched on time, on budget and delivered immediate return on investment as the sales team used it to explain the changes. The retailers selling the newly expanded ‘Nature’s Feast’ range are equally happy, as this has helped them to increase awareness of the new products with their audiences.
Sales team feedback is that it’s fantastic and has given much needed and increased visibility of the wider product range.
Great communication and tools to help increase ROI
Online marketing support, search engine optimisation workshops and easy view web stats provide me with the tools to continuously improve the websites performance.
